Design Cadence is an interior design studio based in Capitol Hill. We serve homeowners seeking turnkey design services for residential renovations. Our approach focuses on providing comprehensive support from project conception to completion.
Our project engagement is holistic. Homeowners are best served when we join the project team at inception, allowing us to deliver the greatest value: a collaborative, cohesive, and thoughtful process for the life of the project. We oversee every aspect, ensuring attention to detail and quality control. We value the relationship we build with each client and treat every project as a unique journey, tailoring our design solutions to suit our clients’ individualized needs.
This phase focuses on conversation around project goals. We listen to what our clients seek to achieve through their renovation and the experience they want to have along the way. We gather information about the desired aesthetics as well as the investment available to support both the style and overall project scope.
We utilize a 3D modeling software that allows us to study our projects in dynamic ways. Modeling begins with a site visit that gathers, then models, the existing conditions of a home. That model then serves as the backdrop for proposed plan changes, and allows us to investigate various ways of organizing a floor or room. The model is an effective tool for presenting proposed space solutions to our clients.
Design Cadence is well versed in working alongside, and in collaborative partnership with, the professionals any given project requires. The most fundamental project team is a partnership between Design Cadence, the homeowner and general contractor. We welcome the opportunity to work with a client’s preferred GC. We also offer comprehensive guidance through GC selection and project bidding when necessary. Furthermore, we partner with architects, engineers, and specialty tradespeople when additional experts are required to build the proper project team.
With space planning complete, we move in to the fun phase! Design Development is marked by the proposal and selection of all contractor-installed fixtures and finishes. Such materials include cabinetry and appliances, doors and windows, lighting and plumbing fixtures for kitchen and bath, plus tile, flooring and more. We work collaboratively with clients to meld aesthetics with functionality to create spaces that are visually inviting and long-lasting.
Design Cadence handles all activities related to procurement of the selected finish materials. Our project management software facilitates the issuance of formal proposals to clients followed by their associated purchase orders. Our process gathers quotes, places orders, tracks and inspects deliveries and allows us to handle returns/exchanges of damaged/incorrect items.
Design Cadence continues to be an active part of the project team once construction has begun. In advance, all design selections are detailed and dimensioned in our Construction Documents. Our presence on the job site then oversees the design implementation and facilitates our commitment to ensuring that design intent is being met. We provide regular site observation and attendance at progress meetings. We serve as both client-advocate and GC-partner when addressing unforeseen conditions or challenges in field. Our participation remains constant from construction commencement through completion and positions us to achieve project success alongside the entire team, most notably our valued clients.
